April 10-13 - Clothing and supplies Collection for Romania

In mid april, our church will again be a collection point for relief supplies. We will be accepting donations from Wednesday, 10.04 to Friday 12.04 from 4pm-7pm each day. Saturday, April 13 will be collection day from 10am - 1pm. Our cafeteria will be open again this year. With the relief goods we support the work of Viorica and Teodor Truta in Romania.

Support for people in need

They support people in health, financial or material need. They help with clothes, medicine, bicycles, repairs, support children in education or studies and encourage people. The relief goods that are collected here in "Höfe" are sold in the secondhand store. When the Truta family opens the thrift store, it is very busy. On such days, up to 400 customers come. In Romania there are also wealthy people who appreciate the good quality of the clothes and shoes from Switzerland and are happy to pay something for them. Those who cannot afford to buy clothes are given them as gifts. The income from sales is used to help children and young people with their education, to help poor families with basic necessities and to finance health seminars. Only wealthy customers pay a contribution. All proceeds are used for regional health seminars (100-500 visitors) and needy families.

Partnership with "Licht im Osten"

All collected clothes and goods will benefit the work of Truta family. The transport and customs clearance is carried out by "Licht im Osten". "Licht im Osten" is an independent Christian relief organization that helps people in material, medical and spiritual need. For over 90 years, they have worked with local partners who carry the unstinting love of Jesus in word and deed to the places of greatest poverty, oppression and darkness in Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia.

Demand for bycicles

The truck will be parked at Konradshalde on collection day and can be loaded directly. We will again collect clothes, shoes, bedding, cribs, strollers and stuffed animals that are in good condition. Unfortunately, we cannot take any children's toys this year. We are also very happy to receive old and worn-out bicycles. Teodor Truta will make them roadworthy again in his workshop. Viorica writes: "Near Tulcea, a Romanian port on the Danube, I rode several dozen bicycles to a village with very poor inhabitants. The good quality and the symbolic price made them accessible to everyone. It was the event of the year there!"

Donation campaign

We are also collecting donations this year to cover the transport costs. Our goal is that the Truta family will no longer pay transport costs and we will cover them exclusively through donations. According to "Licht im Osten", the approximate cost of transport is Fr. 3.50 for a 35 liter trash bag, Fr. 6 for a 60 liter trash bag, and Fr. 5 for a 50 liter banana box. Donations for the transport costs can either be made on site on collection day or transferred directly to the Licht im Osten account. Donations to Light in the East are tax deductible. We thank you for every donation and every voluntary contribution to the transport costs
